It all started when…
Mark Wilson found his love for refinishing antiques in his teens in the ‘60’s … along with his love of motorcycles. . He continued to learn and develop his refinishing skills throughout the 1970’s and early 80’s … refining his skills in touch ups, French polishing, teak oil burnishing, veneer repairs, hand stripping, working with precatalyzed lacquers and solvent based wiping stains to hone in on his custom matching abilities.
Mark moved to the Ottawa area in the late 70’s. He helped run an antique refinishing and retail operation and then moved on to working in a refinishing business that included government customers. Through that contact, he was called in to 24 Sussex Drive to touch up the antique sofas in the main living room area (while he was touching up the sofas, then Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau was upstairs pacing, deciding on whether he would run for a second term!).
Mark also had the honour of being included on the team that refinished Glenn Gould’s piano for the CBC Museum.
Mark met Lynn in 1984. They both started a new job at a company in Toronto, on the same day!
Lynn has worked in the office furniture industry in Toronto, since 1976 … administration, souring and purchasing, customer service management, project management and office furniture sales.
They married in 1987 and started their own furniture refinishing, restoration and repair business.
Their son Michael, joined the family owned business in 2013, apprenticing with his Dad and now manages the ongoing projects in the business. Many (long time) customers are very pleased to know that Michael will continue on with the family business, and has accomplished living up to Mark’s reputation and now has established his own stellar reputation in the industry!!
